Summer Program General Guidelines

• Students are required to apply to 3 summer programs.

• Students are required to apply for financial aid, even if the cost of the program is below $3,500. 

• All students must make an earnest effort to seek application fee waivers. Please make sure you are staying on top of deadlines to accomplish this. Here is a sample letter that can be used. 

• Minds Matter funds up to $3,500 in tuition for a summer program. Exceptions are rarely made to this rule. Mentors, please work with your students to apply for programs that can come under this amount, with financial aid. 

• Mentors are expected to assist the summer program lead in setting up travel arrangements for their students to their summer program. We rely on mentors to continue to help with fielding questions regarding summer programs and travel, even after normal mentoring sessions have ended for the year.
